Garment care

Wool is an amazingly functional material and with care will last you a long time. Here are a few things that will help extend your garments life span. And of course, we’re always here to help so if you have any questions, please feel free to reach out: customercare@dinadi.com

WASH LESS OFTEN

The beauty of wool is that it doesn’t need to be washed as often as other fibres. Wool naturally repels dirt and odours and thus needs less washing. Instead of washing you can air out your woollen garments, spot wash if only a small area is soiled and brush your garment with a garment brush. These steps will not only prolong it’s life but also save on valuable natural resources.

HAND WASH YAK AND CASHMERE

The safest way to wash wool is to wash by hand. Fill a bucket with cold water and add a little wool detergent. Agitate the water to distribute the detergent and then add your garment. Let your garment soak for 15-30 min. Remove and press out the water. Do not wring or stretch the garment when removing the water.

MACHINE WASH MERINO

Our MERINO garments can be washed in a washing machine. Make sure to use a gentle program and wash using cold water. Use a wool detergent but avoid chlorine, bleach and fabric softener. Washing in a machine does introduce extra wear and tear to your garments so it is also fully acceptable to hand wash our MERINO garments.

DRY

You should always flat dry your woollen garments. The easiest way to flat dry is to lay the garment on a surface with a towel underneath. If your woollen garment has stretched a bit from use, washing should return it to it’s original form. If you feel, though, that your garment is too small, you can stretch it carefully before drying to obtain the right sizing.

REMOVE PILLING

Woollen garments will naturally pill with use, especially areas exposed to friction. You can easily remove them with a wool comb or by hand. It’s ok to use a de-pilling machine but be careful not to cut into the garment. You can compress the fibers after de-pilling by ironing on low. Pilling is not a sign that your product is worn out.

MENDING

Holes in knitwear can arise due to snags, moths or with time due to wear and tear. Luckily holes can be mended prolonging the life of your garment. We include a piece of mending yarn with each DINADI garment that can be used for this purpose. You can find many mending tips online but if you have any specific questions for us, please don’t hesitate to reach out: customercare@dinadi.com

STORAGE

Do not hang your woollen garments because they will stretch. Rather fold andstore them in a drawer or a storage box. This will help maintain the shape of your garment and help to protect them from moths who can make holes in woollen garments. If you are having trouble with moths, put a piece of cedar or a cinnamon stick in your drawer or box and the moths will stay a way.

COMPOSTING

Finally every garment will at some time reach the end of it’s life cycle. Hopefully, with care, that day is a long ways away. When the day does arrives, you can rest easy knowing that your DINADI garment is made completely of organic materials and will naturally decompose. So when your garment has reached the end of it’s life cycle you can dispose of it in your compost.
